In 1948 Lucille was united in holy matrimony to the late Arthur "Head" Hightower, Sr.  A son, Arthur "Big Man" Hightower, was born to that union.  Lucille later welcomed the birth of another son, Eddie Manuel. Lucille departed Blakely and relocated to Newark, NJ where she resided for more than 65 years. She was employed by Dura Electric Company and later retired from The Atlas Company in Hillside, New Jersey.  Several years after retirement Lucille returned to her birthplace in Blakely, Georgia.

Lucille was a faithful member of the Newark church of Christ while residing in New Jersey. She placed her membership with North Church Street church of Christ upon returning to Blakely where she worshipped as often as she was able.

Lucille was known as Lucy, Ditt, Aunt Ditt, Aunt Lucy, Grandma Lucy, and many other endearing names.  She was the matriarch of her family and always stressed the importance of saving money and paying bills on time. She is especially remembered for her well-coordinated “head-to-toe” fashions.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Eddie Manuel of Atlanta, Ga, and son Arthur "Big Man" Hightower (Shirley) of Berlin, NJ ,Grand sons: Eddie Jr. of Newark, NJ,  Michael (Cathy) of Atlanta, Ga. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8

So we are always of good courage.

We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Yes, we are of good courage, and we

would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
