Mrs. Mella Mae Bennett
On August 13, 1943, the late Johnny B. Sr. and Mary Brown welcomed a beautiful child, the first of 14 siblings. When she was born her father took one look at her and said she looked like a baby doll. She’s been that beautiful Doll Baby from her first breath to her last.
On October 21, 1964, “Baby Doll “ married the late Willie Jim Bennett, Sr. and to this holy union produced six beautiful God sent blessings. Two in which proceeded her in death. Willie Jim Bennett, Jr. and Leon Bennett.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories four children: Sharon Powell (Henry) of Palm Beach, Fla. April Bennett (Herman), Beatrice Wimberly (Willie ) who all reside in Blakely.
Jeffrey Bennett (Deshana ) resides in Albany, Ga. God blessed Baby Doll to see and interact with all ten of her grand kids in that grand motherly way that no one else could. Twelve great grands that will hear stories of her greatness. She also leaves to cherish her memories a special granddaughter (Jazmyne Bennett)
Baby Doll also leaves three sisters: Willie Vera Perkins (Willie ) Janie Mae Brown, of Blakely, Ga.; Ret. Staff Sgt. Bertha Brown—Powell, Columbus, Ga. Three brothers: Johnny B. Brown, Jr. ( Betty ) Sylvester Brown (Bertha) of Blakely, Ga. Retired Staff Sgt. Marvin Brown ( Sandra), Anchorage, Alaska.
Also preceding her in death: Her mother and father: Johnny and Mary Brown, Two brothers: Robert Brown and Nathaniel Brown. Four sisters: Geraldine Miles, Mary Smith, Annie Lett and Virginia Brown.
