Brotfer Walter Lee Kegler was born April 19, 1950, to the late Tommy Day and Lillie Mae Kegler.
He departed this life on January 28,2022 at Life Brite Community Hospital in Blakely, Georgia.
Walter joined Willis Grove Church in Damascus, Georgia at an early age. He was employed by the City of Blakely where he worked for forty -plus years before retiring,
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Pollie Kegler of Blakely, Georgia and to this union two children was born.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Kegler; three brothers- in law: Alan Dunwoody Sr., Willie C. Dunwoody and Ralph Dunwoody; and four sisters- in - law.: Margret Dunwoody, Mattie Mae Henderson, Shirley Foster and Irene Kegler.
Walter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a self taught Master Chef, who knew his way around a kitchen and a grill. He was blessed with many talents including but not limited too: a mechanic, handyman, landscaper, a counselor, and peacemaker. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 45 years Pollie Dunwoody Kegler; six children: Jean Wimberly, Janice Dunwoody, Tracey George (Jessie) and LaToya Kegler all of Blakely, Georgia; Lamar Kegler of Dothan Alabama; and Nathaniel Tolbert (Cheri) of Warner Robins, Georgia.
Five Brothers: Rev. Johnny L. Kegler (Laura), Rev. Willie J. Kegler (Betty), and Jimmy Kegler all of Blakely, Georgia; Clarence Charles Kegler of Albany, Georgia and Darren J. Kegler of St. Petersburgh, Florida.
Five Sisters: Tommie Mae Smith, Lovetta Powell (Ralph), Pastor Lillie Pearl Powell (Edward), and Pastor Jonnie Mae Kegler-King (Micheal) all of Blakely, Georgia; and Catherine James of Atlanta, Georgia.
Four Aunts: Thelma Swanson, Willie Bell Jackson, Lillie Bell Jackson, Martha Stapleton all of Blakely, Georgia.
Two Uncles: Nolan Stapleton and Jacob Stapleton both of Blakely, Georgia.
One Brother-in- law: Hubert (Dolly) and one Sister-in- law: Arlene Dunwoody, both of Blakely, Georgia
Nineteen Grandchildren: Benja Wimberly II, Christopher Tolbert, Tracey Beacham, Monica Dunwoody, Tyler George, Mi’Kayla George, Tatiana Barber, Jamarcus Shaw, and Vontravious Prather all of Blakely,Georgia; Kenyartta Wimberly of Albany, Ga; Anthony Mays (Sierra), Tyaunni Kegler, Breunnica Kegler, and Ka’Naijha Kegler all of Dothan, Alabama; Anisha Tolbert of Killeen Texas; Kadesha Tolbert of Byron, Ga; Nathaniel Tolbert Jr of Fort Gaines, Georgia; D’Aundre Tolbert of Aurora, Colorado and Shaniah Tolbert of Americus, Georgia.
Seventeen Great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
