OBITUARY FOR MS JESSIE M. REED

On November 29, 1945, in Blakely, Ga., the late Huey Reed and Ophelia Reed gave birth to their second child, Jessie Merle Reed, out of six children, two brothers James Reed and Hugh Reed, preceded her in death.

Jessie started her education in Blakely, Ga until she furthered her education in Miami, Fla. Where she then received her High School Diploma as a Trade, she took up Engineering at Lindsey Hopkins Trade School.

Jessie loved to travel back home to see her family and friends where she met her longtime friend, W.C. Lindsey, where one daughter was born, Mary Reed in which was short lived as W.C. Lindsey preceded her in death.

Jessie then moved on to Miami, Fla.  It was hard leaving the people she loved and her church behind, Friendship Baptist Church, but she found a new church, Day Springs MB Church.  She attended for over 40 years, and met her longtime companion George Williams and six children were born.  They loved fixing on cars together, cooking, going to church and raising the family they built. Sadly, George was called home by God who now has preceded Jessie in her death.

Jessie returned home to Blakely to live out her life around family and friends, She opened her home to anyone that needed a place to stay. Everyone enjoyed coming to MS Jessie’s house. Jessie kept her faith in God, going back to where she met her first love Jesus, she loved reading her Bible, it gave her peace and joy, and going to church whenever the doors were opened until the Master called her home on March 18, 2023. Jessie leaves behind seven children: Mary, Eric, Derrick, Joyce (Reed), Rena Williams, Elizabeth and Eddie (Reed). A sister: Pauline Reed, and two brothers: Bobby Reed and William Reed ( Willie Mae ). A host of grandkids (29),Great Grands (38), Great Great Grands  (4). She will be greatly missed by Iyanna and AJ. She also leaves a host of Nieces and Nephews and other family members and Friends.
