Around 10pm on Monday, December 18, God called one of his soldiers in from the battlefield. John A. Prise Sr. was born on September 8, 1950 in Ft. Gaines, GA. He was one of 10 children born to Evelyn and Roe Cile Prise Sr.. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Odessa T. Prise, his eldest son Norris J. Mallard, his siblings Roe Cile Prise Jr., James W. Prise Sr., Henry Prise, and Joe W. Prise.
Early in life he joined Friendship Baptist Church in Bluffton, GA. As a young man he was drafted into the Army and later retired from the Army National Guard after 25 years of service. He also worked at Georgia Pacific for 31 years and retired in 2012. Later he also became an active member of Sunlight Lodge #119 based out of Blakely, GA. He spent the majority of his time caring for his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoying singing with his gospel quartet at different churches and events.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sons Randy E. Mallard (Veronica H.), Darrell C. Teal (Sheila B.), and John A. Prise Jr.; four grandchildren Jamarquise O. Mallard (Destiny), Jashondria M. Mallard, LaDarius D. Teal, and Jayden T. Prise; five great grandchildren Preston J. Mallard, Jeremiah J. Davis, Journey L. Davis, Zuri Mallard, Jariah Mallard; five siblings Geraldine Pope, Betty Prise, Pauline Moye, Annie Prise, and Roosevelt Prise; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
