Going Home celebration for Mr. Wilkie Holmes, Sr.

Gabriel trumpet was blowing; Wilkie (Bubba ) Holmes heard the Lord’s voice.  It sounded so sweet to him that he took his hand and followed Him on to Glory.

              God called Wilkie Holmes to rest on March 2, 2021.  Wilkie was born to the late Wilkie and Rebecca Holmes on September 3, 1940.     At an early age, he joined Steven Chapel Baptist Church. As a young man he moved to Hallandale, Fl. There he met his lovely wife of 54 years LIlllie Mae Campbell Holmes, to this union one child was born.  He returned to Blakely in the late 70’s where he worked multiple jobs.  Wilkie retired from Universal  Blanchers in the mid 2000.  He will be united in Heaven with his parents: Wilkie and Rebecca Holmes, Two brothers: Willie ( Stuff ) Holmes ; Howard Davis, Two sisters: Juanita Davis, and Debra Ann Holmes.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  A loving wife, Lillie Mae Holmes, Six children: Tanya Southward (Wayne ) of Hollywood, Fl., Wilkie Holmes, Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, Fl., Shawana Coles of Columbus, Ga., Austin Frost of Montgomery, Al., Fred Wilson, Michael Wilson of Blakely, Ga. Four Grandchildren:  Artiah Southward, Hollywood, Fl., Alisia Cole, Columbus, Ga., Ebony Brown ( Andre ) Blakely, Ga,. Jacari Johnson, Virgin Islands, Bahama, Zachary Harris ( Jasmine ), Military, Robert Revere, Miami, Fl. Five sister: Ella Holmes, Alberta Blackmon, Gladys Gilbert, Barbara Holmes, Earlene Holmes all of Blakely, Ga.  Two brothers: Jimmy Holmes ( Oteau ), of Blakely, Ga., David Holmes ( Glory ) of Hallandale, Fl.  One aunt: Lillion Williams of Gainesville, Fl., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and  friends and a special friend  Jimmy Jam Johnson.

II Corinthians 12:9

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
